Gelber Muskateller, or yellow muscat, is an ancient grape variety that originates from eastern regions. It is one of the oldest varieties used for the production of white wines, but also for direct consumption. It originally comes from Asia Minor, from where it spread to Syria, Egypt, and the Arab region. Thanks to the Romans, Muscat began to be cultivated throughout the Roman Empire, especially in southern France, and later spread to Europe and other parts of the world.
